Background
Alan Shearer was admitted to practice in 2004 and subsequently called to the Bar in 2010. Prior to being called to the Bar, he practised as a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution Group at Mallesons Stephen Jaques where he worked for over 7 years. Both as a barrister and a solicitor, Alan has gained extensive experience in the conduct of complex, as well as smaller scale, commercial litigation in a wide range of industries and involving diverse areas of law. In those matters, he has acted for major Australian and international corporate clients as well as smaller corporations and individuals. He has been responsible for the conduct of proceedings in almost all of the principal courts in New South Wales, as well as the Federal Court, the High Court, the Australian Competition Tribunal, the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He achieved the highest result in both the NSW Bar Examinations and the Bar Practice Course and graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours in both Laws and Arts and the University Medal in Arts.
