Background

Jackson has a varied public and commercial law practice. His public law practice includes constitutional law, administrative law, and statutory construction. He has a general commercial practice and has experience in class actions, competition law and contractual disputes. He has appeared in the High Court, and in intermediate appellate courts and at the trial level in various jurisdictions (both led and unled). He was recently Counsel Assisting the Inquiry into the Appointment of the Former Prime Minister to Administer Multiple Departments, led by the Hon Virginia Bell AC.

Before coming to the Bar, Jackson was Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General of the Commonwealth (Dr Stephen Donaghue KC) and an Associate at the High Court (Keane J) and the Federal Court (Farrell J).

Jackson holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from the University of Oxford, where he studied on the Peter Cameron Sydney-Oxford Scholarship. He graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours in Law.

Jackson has taught constitutional law at the Australian National University. He is also a reporter for the New South Wales Law Reports.
