Areas of practice

Zelie has a public and commercial law practice, including constitutional law, administrative law, environment and planning law, inquiries and general commercial law.

She is briefed to appear in the High Court as well as intermediate appellate courts and at first instance for a range of government and private parties. She has appeared as Counsel Assisting the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption and the National Anti-Corruption Commission and for interested parties in various inquiries.

Zelie has been recognised as a leading Administrative and Public Law counsel (Doyles Guide, 2022-2025) and Environment and Planning counsel (Doyles Guide 2024-2025). She is currently a member of the NSW Bar Association’s Education Committee and the LPAB’s Legal Qualifications Committee.

Before coming to the Bar, Zelie practised in the Administrative Law and Constitutional Law groups at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office. She was an associate to the Chief Justice of the Federal Court and the Chief Justice of the High Court. She lectured in Evidence Law at the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney. She undertook a Masters in Law at Cambridge on a John Monash Scholarship. She graduated with a BA/LLB from the University of Sydney with the University Medal in Law and achieved the highest aggregate mark in the June 2012 Bar Exams.
