Areas of practice
Zelie has a public and commercial law practice, including constitutional law, administrative law, environment and planning law, inquiries, tort and general commercial law. She regularly appears unled in final and interlocutory hearings, and as junior counsel in more complex and appellate matters.
She has recently appeared as Counsel Assisting in the ICAC inquiry into former councillors at Hurstville City Council/Georges River Council and certain property developers, and for Downer EDI Pty Ltd in the ICAC inquiry into allegations concerning Transport for NSW.
Zelie has been recognised as a leading Administrative and Public Law junior counsel in Australia (Doyles Guide, 2022). She is currently Deputy Chair of the NSW Bar Association Education Committee.
Before coming to the Bar, Zelie practised in the Administrative Law and Constitutional Law groups at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office. She was an associate to the Chief Justice of the Federal Court and the Chief Justice of the High Court. She lectured in Evidence Law at the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney. She undertook a Masters in Law at Cambridge on a John Monash Scholarship. She graduated with a BA/LLB from the University of Sydney with the University Medal in Law and achieved the highest aggregate mark in the June 2012 Bar Exams.
